The archers recording with Shelby, Chris and Jade. In this exercise we did a radio show where we spoke as if we were the characters on the script

Narrative Structure

For there to be a narrative structure, there needs to be a story- this is what the film/tv/radio is about. The narrative- this is how you decide to tell the story. The big difference between a story and narrative is that, a narrative's ending allows the audienve to think more about

3 ACT STRUCTURE:

1. Equilibrium
2. Disequilibrium
3. New Equilibrium

CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD NARRATIVE STRUCTURE:

1. Exposition
2. Development
3. Complications
4. Climax
5. Resolution

This would be a linear narrative structure that the audience would expect to see in a film. What I mean by linear - is when the film/t.v./radio is in chronological order. However Im not saying all films are linear, you do have non linear films- this is where there is multiple stories going on not in chronological order e.g Pulp Fiction (Tarantino 1995). Below you will see Pulp Fiction in chronological order along side the other narratives playing out at the same time.

Rough Cut Feedback

What I took into account after my feedback:

Although, I my rough cut was incomplete, it genrally got positive feedback
- Liked the different environments footage was taken in especially in the car
- You could hear the subject talking clearly
- Subject was encaging
- Experiment putting background music
- Think of transitions between the different subjects
- Need more cutaways

Script Draft

My first draft of the script.  So I only wrote the text what the interviewer was going to say because I wanted the response of interviewee to be spontaneous and see where the story leads.

Documentary draft from Christen Saptou
I got a little feedback from my script draft that was to include details of each character the setting and further more on the range of shots.

One of the other optional feedback I received was to keep the story line simple and only hear it from the couple side.

Documentary Finale Pitch.3rd time's a charm (feedback included)

Most of their life they've known each other. In total they've spent 24 years in a relationship in which 4 years they dated, 2 years they were engaged and 18 years married with many more years to come. Their background story is like any other plot for a fairytale. She was the girl next door and he was the guy falling for her. you could ask whose fairytale was this his or hers? However soon or later the girl began to feel the same way. They shared each others hopes, dreams and firsts together. You could say match made in haven who spend there lives, living happily ever after.
That's how reality is right 'simple' when it comes to the matters of ones heart?
Trick Question
I wanted to find out what happened between the perfect scenes you know the ones that's scripted out or never written in a book.

Who would I interview?
Mrs Leonora and Mr Harold : They both were born and raised in South Africa. In 2001 they moved to the UK with their 5 year old to peruse Leonora's career in the medical field and to give their family a better chance in life. Now they both have thrived in their careers and have a second child. I could get in contact with them easily as they where my parents, in the interview I would want to keep the story about them before the kids came. To keep the story short and sweet and still have the sense of a fairytale; they never tale you what happens after they ride of into the sunset so why should I?

I could also interview friends and family, to share their insight in how these two make it work and to share some stories that the two might have forgotten.

Also I could interview a range of ages from 6 year olds to teens and to elderly to capture what fair-tales mean to them and if they can happen in everyday life.

Feedback:
The feedback for my 3rd pitch was positive as it is feel good short film, they liked the idea that they would be interviewed separately to see their individuality and if they have the same story or or anything else happened in between. Suggestions I got is I should get archive footage of them in their earlier days as well as the wedding day.

Documentary Pitch.2

Of the age of 5, he knew what he wanted to be, he wanted to go Pro and thats what his currently working towards.

Who would I interview?
Jemal: With such amazing talent at the age of 16 he signed with his first football club and is with them full time. This year his received a contract giving him the option to go and play in the USA, Thailand or to stay in the UK. Imaging getting paid at 16 for doing the career you always wanted and now having an opportunity to travel the world and do what you love while getting paid; and that big break being taken away from you because you only turn 18 in couple of months because legally you cant live by yourself anywhere if you under 18. Whats his next move? Thats what I would like to find out.
I've Known him for 3 years now so I could have reached out to him but unfortunately I lost contact with him due to technology problems with losing my contacts.

Documentary Pitch. 1

The pitch is simple... its a guide in how to get into the most competitive industry known is the fashion industry. There are a lot of young designers hoping to get into the design industry but some don't have a clue how to for fill their dreams. I wont to expose this formula that has been in this industry for decades.. a step by step guide or my turn out to be some inside knowledge.

Who would I interview?

Sarah:  Is a young designer that comes from Cambridge, whose one of long road's ex pupils, while she was there she studied Art & Design, Business Studies and Design Technology (textiles). After she went to Coventry University a former fashion student. Sarah also took home the title of the year at the prestigious Midlands Fashion Awards after impressing the judges with her range of designs inspired by the seasonal changes to plant life.  So I tried contacting her via email. Unfortunately she was going through job changes and she was currently in Reading it was bad timing for her. Never the less her view would have been appreciated, coming from the perspective of a uni fashion graduate even if she didn't pursue in the fashion industry.

Long Road: I wanted to Interview Linn, Sarah's Textile teacher at Long. This was going to give information on the subject this was to be the first stepping stone into fashion. Then would have talked about what makes a student succeed and stand out from the other inspiring designers wanting to make it. a little bit about the teacher her self, what makes her qualified to teach this subject as well as her own experiences with textiles.

Multiple Universities:
Bath Spa, St Martins, Nottingham Trent, Coventry - This will be achieved when I go to the opening evenings, however I first need to send an email to each one explaining what I'm doing with a camera and ask for permission to film in the university. I got replies both from Bath and Trent saying it was  fine, but I had no reply from St Martins on of the most prestigious universities for upcoming fashion designers as well as Coventry.

Fashion Week: 'It's Fashion Week in London!' perfect opportunity to ask designer already in the fashion industry a couple of question on how they made it and advice for young designers hoping to be the next trendy designer.

Unfortunately, Sarah and my timetables clashed so this pitch wasn't practical to put into motion.
